HOW TO WASH YOUR HANDS:
NOTE: Make sure to use RUNNING water that DRAINS
Use LIQUID soap (if available)
- Rub soapy hands for 15-30 seconds (about the time it takes to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)
- Rinse hands, fingertips down, from wrists to nails, until ALL soap is gone
- Turn off the faucet with a paper towel (in order to prevent the spread of germs)
- Dispose of paper towel in proper receptacle
WHEN TO WASH YOUR HANDS:
Upon arriving
When moving from one group to another
Before AND after eating, handling food, feeding a child
giving medication
playing in water
diapering
After using the toilet or helping a child use the toilet
handling bodily fluid (i.e., mucous, blood, etc.)
handling uncooked food (especially meat and poultry)
handling animals
playing in sandboxes
handling garbage
