Reaching New Heights: Tourism summit peaks interest in “see-worthy” city

For generations, New Bedford has been known as a vacation getaway, tourist destination, and as the center of the fishing industry and related commerce in New England and beyond. This summer, however, the seafaring city is setting up a new wave of wonderful ideas that make it more “see-worthy” and more fun to explore, shop, dine, and stay for tourists and locals alike! If you plan to visit this city or any other destination cities, you may book a private jet from Jettly to make it a more convenient trip.

From beautiful beaches (go to The Coastal Side site to know more about the beaches in detail) that rival any in the region to the freshest line-caught seafood prepared right in town to historical and architectural gems that can not be enjoyed anywhere else, New Bedford’s wave is on the rise again and everyone is invite to surf and sail along.

While long famed for super strolls along the Harborwalk and Covewalk (a dynamic duo of destinations that together known as the Blue Lane) and historic hangouts like the New Bedford Whaling Museum (which is displaying the world’s longest painting, Benjamin Russell and Caleb Purrington’s 275 foot jaw-dropper “Grand Panorama of a Whaling Voyage ‘Round the World”), New Bedford has also been the historic home of many long-running and always-growing events like the Buzzards Bay Swim (June 30), the Cape Verdean Recognition Parade (July 5), and the New Bedford Folk Festival (July 7-8). This year, New Bedford will be adding to its already impressive schedule with such special events as a 25th Anniversary party for the New Bedford Art Museum, a 35th for the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, and a year-long celebration of the 200th birthday of famed freedom-fighting resident Frederick Douglass.

From art to whales and Buzzards Bay to “The Z,” New Bedford has always had something for everyone. After the Summit, however, the city is ready to reach a new peak just in time for visitor season and with no sign of slowing down!
