WASHING YOUR HANDS:

 

HOW TO WASH YOUR HANDS:

NOTE:            Make sure to use RUNNING water that DRAINS

Use LIQUID soap (if available)

  1. Rub soapy hands for 15-30 seconds (about the time it takes to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)
  2. Rinse hands, fingertips down, from wrists to nails, until ALL soap is gone
  3. Turn off the faucet with a paper towel (in order to prevent the spread of germs)
  4. Dispose of paper towel in proper receptacle

WHEN TO WASH YOUR HANDS:

Upon arriving

When moving from one group to another

Before AND after eating, handling food, feeding a child

giving medication

playing in water

diapering

After using the toilet or helping a child use the toilet

handling bodily fluid (i.e., mucous, blood, etc.)

handling uncooked food (especially meat and poultry)

handling animals

playing in sandboxes

handling garbage
